Brief

Jason came to me asking for a few landing pages. Their Divi-based WordPress site had just become untamed, and they needed help. They were also gearing up to a brand refresh, and were concerned about how their cranky site would take it (badly, as it happened).

Approach

I started by building a bespoke Divi child theme to house the various custom code scattered around the build, and then carefully moving and testing each example. Following WordPress best practice, I also build a custom site plugin to house functional code which was separate from the design of the site.

Once this was completed, I started working with their design team on applying the refreshed design; however, it became clear that their current hosting situation needed address, so we paused to migrate everything across to WP Engine.

Once the site was performant again, I successfully rebuild the child theme.

Outcome

  • Painlessly migrated hosting from GoDaddy to WP Engine

  • Ported haphazard custom code safely to a child theme/plugin combo

  • Implemented new branding consistently across the site

  • A series of pixel-perfect product pages
